Privacy Policy
Luminary is a macOS app that displays uplifting quotes from a bundled local library. This Privacy Policy explains what data Luminary handles and how.
Summary
Luminary collects no personal data. Everything stays on your Mac.
Data we don't collect
Luminary does not:
- Collect, transmit, or store any personal information about you
- Track you across apps or websites
- Use analytics or telemetry services
- Make network requests to our servers (we don't run any)
- Use third-party SDKs that collect data
- Access your contacts, calendar, photos, location, microphone, or camera
- Read or modify files outside of its own app container
Data stored locally on your Mac
Luminary saves the following on your device only:
- Your saved and personal quotes — stored locally via Apple's SwiftData framework
- Your preferences — quote source, notification frequency, onboarding completion state
- Your Pro purchase status — cached locally in macOS UserDefaults to remember that you've unlocked Luminary Pro
This data never leaves your Mac. It is not synced, uploaded, or shared with us or anyone else.
In-app purchases
Luminary offers a one-time "Luminary Pro" in-app purchase that unlocks additional quote collections, notification frequencies, and unlimited saves. In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details, Apple ID, or any other account information.
When you tap "Restore Purchases", Luminary asks Apple's StoreKit framework for your purchase history for this app. Apple, not Luminary, performs that lookup.
Children's privacy
Luminary does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
